To Potential Sponsors, Spinning Southward is offering ten-months and 16,000 miles of high visibility in return for your support of two brothers' epic bicycle journey through the Americas. On July 26, 2005, brothers Michael and John Logsdon, in partnership with the National Brain Tumor Foundation, will start pedaling from the far northern shores of Prudhoe Bay, Alaska and not stop until they've reached Ushuaia, Argentina, the southern most city in the world. Dedicated to the memory of their mother Jean, who died after a long fight with brain cancer, the brothers have committed to raising both financial support and awareness for the NBTF, a non-profit organization dedicated to brain tumor patient care and research. The trip provides an excellent opportunity for your company to contribute to a nationally recognized, Bay Area non-profit through a ride that reflects and honors your commitment to charitable contributions. By making a contribution to the trip, you will benefit from the combined energy and experience of Spinning Southward and the NBTF's media savvy team of professionals. Spinning Southward's extensive targeted media campaign directed by Melody Meyer, an accomplished Publicist in New York City, will create ample opportunities to acknowledge your company's contributions in print and broadcast media coverage. Over the years Meyer has managed media campaigns for hundreds of commercially successful books and organized sponsor events in both large and small media markets. Along the way, she gained practical experience with clients and sponsors and can guarantee professional product placement and maximum exposure for your contribution. Meyer will work closely with the publicity department at the NBTF to organize media events on the West Coast and coordinate the national media campaign. Our current sponsors have already enjoyed TV and Newspaper coverage in major media markets such as Vancouver, Seattle, and Portland. In our quest to get your products recognized we will also vigorously attack the smaller markets in cities all along our route. The Spinning Southward team also welcomes web designer Ace Walker of Gear Nine Enterprises, who will design and maintain www.southward.gearnine.com, the official trip site, with weekly updates including digital photographs and text from the road. The website will prominently display your corporate logo, product information, and a link to your website. The NBTF will also provide coverage of the Spinning Southward ride on their website. Both the Spinning Southward Team and the NBTF recognize the need to spotlight sponsors and include them in all ongoing media and online coverage of the trip. The epic qualities of our trip, matched with our support for the National Brain Tumor Foundation has already caught the interest of editors at National Geographic, Outside Magazine, Outdoor Magazine, Frommers, Dirt Rag, Mountain Bike Action, and a host of other high circulation outdoor, travel and cycling publications. We will continue to court publications that cater to your target audience, in addition to our work with local news organizations along the route. If your company is interested in joining the Spinning Southward and National Brain Tumor Foundation team and making a financial or in-kind contribution to the trip please contact us.
